Trimester Trap
League
Summary (Rules are posted at Trap Field House bulletin board)
Shooters and Sponsors are welcome to organize teams of up to five
shooters, groups
under five can still shoot on the same team, if the remaining slots can
be filled by club management - these shooters will be randomly placed
on a team.
All shooters must be club members in good
standing, come early
to any club event for membership sign-up.
First Sundays of January, May & September will be the first 25
round Shoot of the Trimester for Banking
scores.
Third Sundays of January, May & September are the first competition
25 round Shoots.
These are the last days to sign up your team for the Trimester.
Teams will decide on a team captain. The team captain is responsible
for ensuring that all team members either attend the shoot, or have
targets banked. Team captains are also responsible for checking and
initialing scorecards directly after shooting. Team captain is
responsible for seeing that Sponsor Fee (or alternately: total team
fee) is paid on time.
Teams: All shooters in a team will shoot from the same distance of
their choice for the first shoot of banked scores. Shooters who
bank additional scores may choose their distance. After the first
shoot, handicaps will be calculated for the next shoot. Handicap
yardage will apply by the squad to each shooter in that squad - all
shooters in a squad shoot from the same yard line. Total score
for all five team members is added up for the previous 25 targets;
divide this total by 5 and add 2 for actual yardage position from which
the next 25 will be shot (minimum of 16 yards); so teams may move both
back, and also forward during the trimester competition.
If a shooter must miss a Shoot, banked scores shot from the
same or
greater distance positions may be used to complete the teams score for
the day. If the missing shooter has not banked a usable score the
team can use a “league dog score” (only one time per Shooter) which is
averaged from the combined score to date
of all league members, not just the shooter's team. If a particular
Shooter is absent more than one Shoot without advance usable banked
scores, the Shooter's score is 0.
First, Second, and Third place Individual prizes, and one
First place
prize for a team will be awarded at the last shoot of the
Trimester.
Each shooter will pay the Event fee at beginning of the day's
shoot. Each team will pay one trimester Sponsor Fee.
Alternately, teams may pay with one full payment for all 5 shooter's
trimester Event Fees and the trimester Sponsor Fee before the first
shoot.
Trap League fees includes awards & 8 Sunday
shoots of 25 targets for each of 5 team members (7 competition
shoots and one target banking shoot on 1st Sunday).
Additional score banking is charged separately.
We will have some pictures from these events to share upon request with
Sponsor's PR Dept.
Additional promotional ideas for
team sponsors who wish to advertise such as matching shirts,
etc. There will be room for banners (no larger than 2ft.x3ft.) to
be placed on stakes at the Trap Field Event. Shooting vests with
company logo, and field banners are also available.
The club will not
be part of any additional agreements between Teams and their
Sponsors.
Trimester League dates: First shoot days are the first Sundays in
January, May & September;
Sponsor Fees are due by first Sundays of February, June & October.
The club will provide seven shooting opportunities plus one for
score banking for each Trimester League shoots on the 1st and 3rd
Sundays of the month. Additional score banking will be possible
any Sunday.
If weather, or other problem causes a canceled
league shoot, a makeup shoot will be scheduled. Generally we
shoot in all weather except lightening. Come to the field for
information or query by phone.

USPS
The Upland Sport Protection Shoot
is a modified form of the
'Protection' game commonly played in the US, (but has nothing
to do
with the Postal Service). It is a competition Trap style shooting
game played with teams of two shooters each. The game is
played
with two teams on the Trap field per round. The first team starts
on Trap shooting positions 1 & 2, the second team on positions 4
& 5. The first team shooter on position 1 calls for a target
and shoots first; that shooter's teammate on position 2 then shoots at
the same target if first shooter has missed. There is one point
scored per team if either shooter hits the target; (Back-up shooter on
position 2 may elect to shoot at the chips of an already broken target,
or not, but this will not affect the score). Next the Second team
Shooter on position 5 calls for a target and shoots. The teammate on
position 4 is the back-up shooter.
This is repeated four more times - Shooters on positions 1 & 5
alternately calling for targets to a total of 5 each.
Then: Shooters rotate positions with their own teammate. Now the
shooters who were the back-up shooters last time will call for targets
and shoot first - for the next 5 for the team. Outside Shooters
on positions 1 & 5 always call and shoot first. Inside
Shooters on positions 2 & 4 are always the Back-up Shooter.
Then: after both teams have had a chance at 10 targets total, the
Teams will rotate with each other. The last Back-up Shooter from
position 2 will move to position 5, and Shooter from 4 moves to
1. The last Caller from 1 moves to 4, and Shooter from 5 to
2. From this position each Team calls alternately for 5 targets.
And finally: Teammates rotate with each other for the last 5.
When the round is completed each shooter will have called for 5 targets
from each of positions 1 & 5 and will have played Back-up positions
at 2 & 4.
An IMPORTANT Safety reminder for this game is that Back-up Shooters who
may have not taken a shot should remember to unload their guns before
rotating to a different position and when leaving the field.
While not a hard & fast rule for an USPS, the method of team
selection that we normally use is to take the
Players present and use the previous Trap game scores to pair the
Player with the highest score with the lowest score Player to form a
team; and likewise the next highest, with next lowest, until all
players are in a team.

Turkey Shoot
The Turkey Shoot here is shotgun
sport utilizing the trap house and clay targets. The game is on
the style of a regular Trap Shoot game, and the High Score Shooter
Prize is a Frozen Turkey! All Shooters' names who wish to compete
for a turkey will be drawn from a hat to form squads of 5 shooters
each.
There will be a turkey winner in every squad of 5. Each shooter
takes one shot from each 16 yard position on the trap field; High score
out of
5 wins the turkey. When there is a tie, the high score shooters
will line up again, stepping back 2 yards for another round of 5 shots
for high score. If there is still a tie for
high score after 5 rounds (25 targets each) the names of remaining
tied shooters will be put in the hat for a drawing for winner. On
Turkey Shoot Day, after all competitors have shot for one chance at a
turkey, any shooter who has not yet won a turkey may re-enter another
squad
to fill out the last squad, or even form a whole new squad for 5
members who want to try again. Squads made of shooters trying for
a turkey more than once must be 5 shooters to a squad. * All
squads are created from names drawn out of the hat. * Every squad
has a turkey winner. *Each shootoff round of 5 shots each is from
2 yards farther than the last shootoff round. * Score is tallied
after each five to award a turkey to the high score winner in that
squad. The Turkey Shoot
is over when there are not enough shooters to make another full squad,
or when we run out of turkeys.
